Who We Are

Little Rookies Childcare offers a Daycare service for 2-12 years and a childminding service for 0-5 years open to all children across Fife.
Team Rookies aims to offer challenging and stimulating activities both active and creative all set around having fun, we believe play is the foundation of every child’s development. Children are born with a natural curiosity and an instinct to play and therefore they encourage their own development, given the right support, children are the ultimate play experts.

Our Ethos

Creating a childcare environment which celebrates diversity is an important part of a childcare. Everyone is different, and each individual brings a host of different skills. Building children’s positive self-esteem and giving them the confidence to reach out to new learning experiences.
Being pro-active about the care we provide means Team Rookies understands that child protection is a fundamental part our role as childcare providers. Equipping ourselves with the knowledge and skills to maintain a high level of childcare and viewing a child-centred high quality approach to children’s well-being.
Team Rookies work hard in promoting equality and diversity into your everyday practice. We treat each child on an individual basis and with equal concern and give each child equal chances to learn and develop. Considering each child’s age and stage of development, gender, ethnicity, home language and any disability. We encourage children to develop a sense of their own identity and culture.
Team Rookies roles and responsibilities are to: support children to develop an awareness of their own personal safety and try to make sure that activities always take into consideration the needs of all the children.
We are registered with both Care Inspectorate and Fife Council.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

How we’re keeping everyone safe

By checking temperatures (children & staff)
By staying in our bubbles & not mixing
By enhancing our cleaning schedule
By asking you to keep your 2m distance whilst you wait
By asking you to bring only one adult if you can
By asking you to bring only essential items to Rookies
Reducing footfall into the building by asking parents to drop their children at the door
By having everyone wash hands
regularly

Getting it Right for Every Child

GIRFEC

The Scottish Government launched an approach called ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ (GIRFEC) which puts children and their families at the centre of services designed to promote their well-being. GIRFEC is relevant to us all at Rookies as we have a responsibility and involvement with children.

SHANARRI Wellbeing

Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included

These eight factors are often referred to by their initial letters – SHANARRI. We work with these guidelines at Rookies to help support the childrens' development and record any observations and achievements in their personal learning journals.

We ensure that there are activities to suit every interest throughout the day, for all ages and abilities. The activities change daily, and we try to always make the most of the good weather to play outside as much as we can.

Our activities include:

  • Daily Sports sessions

  • Archery

  • Lego creations

  • Sand Art workshops

Childminding

My name is Caroline Coll. I’m 40yrs old and married to David who I have been with for the past 19 years. We have a 13yr old daughter, Kerry, who is attending Bell Baxter high school.
I have a full clean drivers licence which I have had for the past 21 and half years. I’ve been working as a childminder since June 2010 and very much enjoy my role as a childminder and have gone on to also open my own children’s Daycare.
I take pride in our service being a ‘home from home’. I have a ratio of one adult to 3 children under 5 per day making it a very close unit. The children have their own playroom with age appropriate equipment and the freedom of two gardens also with age appropriate toys/equipment. We can take 0-5 years in the playroom.

I previously worked as a support worker for Enable Scotland for adults with special needs and learning disabilities for 6yrs and before that I worked in care homes for the elderly.

My Husband and I both have our Disclosure Scotland certificates as do my assistants. I am qualified to SVQ 3 Level 3 in Children Learning and Development and SVQ 4 Level 9 in Social Services (Children and Young People) as well as various other qualifications that will be available to view for parents on request.
